Reflection

1.       The image of the iceberg evokes a very complex feeling. Not only is there an incredible vastness there, but the majority of it is hidden. I feel a sense of wonder for things unseen when I look at this image. This applies to my writing because I always look for a deeper meaning behind the words that I write. Through my writing I seek to further understand my own sense of morality, the things that I wish for and why they are important to me. I almost always find a way to link a topic to something deeper. For example, on my entertainment page I identified that through reflection on the past we may identify what is most important, and find a way to interpret our lives the way we choose. On the career page I realized that I am largely interested psychology because it applies to the person I hope to become.
2.       There is always more to a person, situation, or place than initially meets the eye. The world is not revealed to us all at once. Exploration, reflection, determination and patience are all required if we wish to truly see all aspects of the world around us. Or even to fully understand ourselves and the origin of our beliefs and opinions.
3.       It is always important to keep in mind that there are things unseen. I believe that the application of this knowledge promotes a sense of respect, understanding, and acceptance for others and their situations. It is unfair to judge people based on their current situation or attitude alone; we do not know how they got there. What we initially see in our surroundings in only the tip of the iceberg. The real beauty lies beneath.
